Christian S-F Storyworld in 3 Quick Steps
1. Take the young-earth creationist presuppositions about earth history, pick a point in time, and imagine what life would be like in those circumstances.
2. Take the young-earth creationist presuppositions about the pagan gods, pick a tribe to research, and imagine what life would be like in those circumstances.
3. Take the young-earth creationist presuppositions about the Creator God, flip that one on its head, and make the Creator an outdated tribal myth.
While it sounds blasphemous to Christians, #3 is essentially where our culture is today. So it shouldn’t take that much imagination, and just maybe it’s something we should talk about.
I have one short story drafted and another in progress. (Thanks, Grace, for taking the first one in for a quick crit.) There’s also a novel in draft, using Saxon and Norse mythology.
So, what have we got?
Rampaging dinosaurs: Check.
Desperate tribal warriors: Check.
High stakes for an entire tribe: Check.
Cool ancient OoPArt-type technology: Check.
Tremendous fun putting it all together: Oh, yeah.
